3rd Annual D'Art for Art

D'Art for Art Guests Were on Their Mark to Support Local Art Museum

At the whistle's shrill blow, guests at Lighthouse Center for the Arts' 3rd Annual D'Art for Art fundraiser dashed through the museum galleries to claim their top choices from over 140 works of art that they took home as the ultimate party favor. The Saturday, November 14th event was a resounding success, as more than 100 guests enjoyed vodka D'Art-inis, bid on silent auction packages, and dined from a mouthwatering menu of courses served by Little Moir's Food Shack. All proceeds raised at D'Art for Art support the year-round programs that the Lighthouse Center for the Arts provides Palm Beach and Martin Counties. The Lighthouse Center for the Arts, located in Gallery Square North, 373 Tequesta Drive in Tequesta, is the area's leading visual arts museum and school of art.

The artwork snatched by guests was collectively valued at nearly $100,000. Artists and art patrons donated richly diverse, high-quality works to help raise funds at this much anticipated "fun"draiser. Guests were happy to find artwork exhibited that matched every taste and appreciation. Collectors grabbed pieces by well sought-after photographers Barry Seidman, Barry Ravel and Tony Arruza, painter JoAnne Berkow and many other well-known artists. Artwork of all mediums, such as oil paintings, photography, ceramics, hand-crafted jewelry and furniture is now part of private collections of the guests at D'art for Art.

The evening's Mistress of Ceremonies, Kathy Greene, Program Director and Host at Jupiter's WJTW 100.3 FM Radio, delighted the crowd with her charm and wit as she cajoled the crowd to bid on exciting auction items, support the art-camp scholarship fund, and "get ready, set, go!" to make a mad dash for art. A lifelong supporter of Lighthouse Center for the Arts, Ms. Greene brought heart and humor to her role as hostess.

Highlights of the evening included new executive director Katie Deits as official starting line whistle blower, entertainment at the grand piano by Buffy Napolitano, and the new cocktail concoction known as the D'Art-ini. 2009 D'Arters claimed that the event just keeps getting better each year, from the exquisite presentation of art to the table settings and decorations to the culinary presentation and visual art adorning the dining room. As a convertible sped away from the museum entrance with a large canvas in the back seat, guests applauded an incredible evening where fun was had by every guest, and the funds raised will help provide access to art for all.

Lighthouse Center for the Arts thanks its Event Committee and Co-Chairs, guests, Board of Directors, sponsors and volunteers for their outstanding support of Lighthouse Center for the Arts. Business sponsors included actor/celebrity Alec Baldwin, the Cruiser Riley's Life, D.Salon, David's Limousine Service, Inc., Durga Garcia Photography, EVO Restaurant, The Framery, g.g. Marlene, Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Museum, Little Moir's Food Shack, The Lyric Theatre, M&M Studios, The Miami Dolphins, Neiman Marcus, Bosha J. Stone and Video Production by Ross Hutchinson.
